Gratitude
During a recent bible study class one of my fellow students mentioned the 10 lepers and the lack of gratitude show by 9 of them. For those not familiar with the story; Jesus on his way to Jerusalem stopped in a village . he encountered 10 lepers who yelled to him for pity . Jesus told them to go to the priest and on the way there the healing took place. One came back to say thank and praise God . The one who returned was not a full Jew he was a Samaritan.. Jesus question to him? "where are the other 9.' he wanted to know where his friends were , he knew he had healed all 10.
We can sense in Jesus's words a degree of disappointment in those 9 and sadness that they did not respond to his love. The other 9 just took the gift and showed no gratitude or thanks.(Luke 17:11-19). We can do the same when God answers a prayer or we receive mercy and then forget to even say thank you lord. For example anytime we eat without saying grace we are guilty of this failure . We should take note that the 10th leper's gratitude was not just in words; he took action. he returned and praised God and knelt before Jesus. Gratitude is more than saying thank you. Gratitude is acting in a way that shows you are are truly thankful. God wants this; that is why Jesus asked and is still asking where are the other 9? https://youtu.be/LfZdEvrfCew
