    Have you ever seen a miracle? How many people would say that they have seen a miracle? Well, most people would say, "No, I have not seen one," and this makes things problematic when talking about God, Jesus, and the Holy Scriptures. Why? Because the Bible is filled with, well, miracles. People, therefore, say, "Well, I have never seen a miracle. They are not part of normal life or a daily part of reality." So, they dismiss miracles and also the Bible and God.    The reality is that this is a very Western and modern viewpoint. Most societies and people throughout history believe and have believed in miracles, spirits, gods, the afterlife, God, and, of course, miracles. Read the Bible. It is about most nations, even Israel, rejecting the "true God," Jehovah, the Creator of all reality and the universe.                                                                  Time is short   The rich man prepared to live for many years to come . He saved and built set up all his accounts , bought stocks and a new mansion , all his trips and his life's goals were planed out into the future. We all do this; we speak and plan as if we have all the time in the world. It is worst when we are young when 70 to 100 years seems like well " like a life time"  But the reality is it is a small moment of time.  God is eternal he had no beginning and no end.   Sermon Synopsis:  John 2: 9- 10.     9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, 10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. KJV     The world offers all its good things NOW. You then end up lost and dying in your sins.  The good wine is given first then the cheap is served and poisons and kills. Jesus saves the best for last. Tears and suffering may come but heaven and things no human can imagine await his children. I received a sad call this week from a family friend .One of my grandmother's oldest friends went to be with The Lord. She went to sleep and never woke up .She was 99 a few months short of her 100th birthday.  As I spoke to the mutual friend, of both our families, I struggled to find some profound spiritual words.  C.S  Lewis wrote a whole book on the topic of grief and lost. Where were the powerful words and scriptures about eternity. The rousing speech on God's power and love in this moment. My own grief and humanness left me with few words. I spoke a few words of comfort and support but nothing else.    Death is a thief even when you are 99. In this pandemic this was not the first death of someone I have known.
