LORD Of The Storms

Sermon summary:

 ACTS 27 13-24

1. Paradox in the storm

When the storm started all aboard were afraid. Paul was calm and told everyone that they would all live. He told them an angel from his God visited him with a message. The angel said God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you" !!  The paradox came  when Paul saw some sailor trying to sneak away in the life boat. Paul told the leader of the soldiers on board,a Centurion, not let them leave because if they leave we all will die. Why did God need the sailors ? God would use them as part of his will to save those on board. The paradox in life's storms !  God can deliver but what you do has consequences. Soldiers do not know how to sail. they needed sailors to sail and work as part of God's plan. Some say GOD is in control so it does not matter what i do. God says i will walk with you protect you BUT you have use your knowledge and gifts. Wear a mask for example to avoid spreading or getting an illness.

2. Purpose of the storm

Why God did allow Paul and the others to suffer in the storm. God allows storms for specific reasons. Only God know the reason. He may be allowing the storm for Good. Joseph growing up was a spoiled and shallow kid. His brothers were filled envy and wanted to kill him, but sold him into slavery. He had one storm after another that eventually lead him to become a leader in Egypt. The day came when Joseph was reunited with his brothers they were afraid he would seek revenge. He told them in Genesis 50:20 "But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive." NKJV. Romans 8:28 says "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.: KJV. Stay on the battlefield, God has a purpose in the storm.

3. Presence in the storm

We say we do not know why God allows storms in life. There is another book and another record.  One day you will see God was right there with you in the storm !  God has control God has your back do not abandon the ship !!!!  Like the disciples in Mark 4:35-41  stay on the ship with God !  How was Paul so calm in the storm ,it was because God showed up ,You must seek God's presence in the storm. Paul had been ship wrecked before so he knew God could bring him out of the storm. He knew God was present in the storm.

In fact, When Jonah the prophet ran away from God; God brought a storm. Jonah told the people on his ship to throw him overboard INTO the storm to save the ship. He knew God had sent that storm after him. He knew God was present in the storm and the only way to SAVE others was to go into the storm. Jesus went into the storm of the Father's wrath to save anyone who accepts him as savior and Lord.

This last year and now we have been going through a storm and we have storms in our life. Facing the Paradox in the storm seek God's Purpose for the storm and His Presence in the storm
