Sermon 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

short sermon synopsis:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

New King James Version 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Paul was writing to a new church that was  under persecution in 1 Thessalonians then later 2nd Thessalonians. Sometimes life get so bad it can make you want to shutdown ; where you do not want to talk to anyone; sometime even God.  Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 is saying to the church things are hard but you need to keep praying. The Devil can rob you of your happiness but not joy- if you have it from God.word sasy is  John 15:11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.  Prayer is our way to interact with God. The bible says lay burden on him. Psalm 55:22 says "Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." You cannot lay burden on him unless you interact with him. God does answer prayer ! God may be late like with Lazarus but he is always on TIME. Do not lose hope, Do not get frustrated; God is just exercising your spiritual muscle! An Acronym for Faith is - For all I trust Him.   In the model prayer given by Jesus in Matthew 6:9-13 for all Christians. He teaches that true Christians must: 1. Address God as father so we understand our relationship 2. Praise God-  3. Ask for daily forgiveness  4. According to God will !

If prayer for something it did not work out pray again for that thing because this time is not the same as last time !  But according to model prayer God will answer if it is according to his WILL and we not blocking due to sin.

Sermon quote- Lord help us "do what word says to do for our own good "
