God Is Still Working in Me
God Is Still Working in Me"
There are. Religions. Movements. Faiths. That tried to teach you or to make you believe. That you have to be perfect right now before you can have a relationship with God. And I think that if we searched the Bible, it was never that way. God put Adam and Eve in the garden. Perfect. But they messed up when the devil came along. And God still came after them. God delivered Israel from slavery in Egypt. And they turned their backs on him. And he still came after them.
The central message comes from Philippians 1:6: God begins a good work in believers and will continue it until it is complete. Christians are therefore works in progress, not finished products. Because everyone is at a different stage of spiritual growth, believers should avoid judging one another. Salvation is by grace, not perfection. God saves people because of His love and mercy, not because they deserve it. The Holy Spirit works within believers to gradually transform them into what God desires them to be. Christians still struggle, make mistakes, and sin, but this does not mean they no longer belong to God. The enemy (Satan) tries to define people by their worst failures, while God defines them by His grace and their identity in Christ.
There is a difference between: Conviction, which leads a person back to God and restoration. Condemnation, which tells a person to give up and believe they are beyond hope. A believer's identity is not determined by past failures but by God's saving work. God not only saves people by grace but also sustains and transforms them by grace throughout life. Spiritual growth often involves painful but necessary change, such as confronting sin, breaking harmful habits, healing wounds, and learning forgiveness, humility, and self-control. Biblical figures like Peter, David, and John Mark experienced significant failures, yet God restored and continued to use them. Failure may be a chapter in someone's story, but it does not have to be the conclusion. God is still working in His people. Christians are not expected to achieve instant perfection. Instead, they are called to trust God's ongoing process of transformation, relying on His grace rather than their own efforts. No matter how many times they fall short, God remains committed to completing the work He started in them.
Outline
I. God Sees What We Are Becoming, Not Just What We Are
"We haven't arrived, but God sees the end of the process."
II. God Is Continually Working in His Children
"He's still working in me."
God's work is not finished simply because we are imperfect.
III. Your Failure Does Not Define Your Identity
Romans 8:1 "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."
"Your identity is not determined by your failure."
IV. Salvation Begins and Continues by Grace
Many believers wrongly think:
"God saved me, but now I must keep myself saved through perfection."
The same grace that saved you is the grace that sustains you.
Quote:
"The Christian life is not God saved me and now I prove I deserved it. The Christian life is God saved me by grace and now He is transforming me by grace."
V. Transformation Happens Through the Renewing of the Mind
VI. Failure Is Not the End of Your Story
Some biblical Examples Peter Denied Jesus but was restored and became a leader in the church.
David Committed serious sin he repented and was restored.
VII. God's Work Is Good Even When It Is Painful Growth Often Hurts
"He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6)
VIII. Be Patient With Yourself and With Others
Remember The Body of Christ is where healing happens. Everyone is in process. God is still working on all of us. Personal Reflection I'm not who I was 10 years ago. I'm not who I was 30 years ago. I'm not yet who I will become.. Keep your hand in God's hand. Trust the process. Trust God's grace. Trust God's promise to finish what He started.
