Overcoming stinking thinking

Words of God: Colossians 3:1. Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatev

God's DEBT

St .Augustine in his work Confessions spoke poetically about the constant prayer of his mother for his salvation .  In one part he expressed how ...." in her ceaseless prayers she laid them them before you as though they were pledges signed by your hand."for, since your mercy endures forever* by your promises you deign to become a debtor to those whom you release from every debt. " *(Psalm 118 1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.)    His mother brought God's promises from scripture to him in her prayers. Reading this I suddenly understood what St .Augustine was saying , a truth that we sometimes overlook in our reading of Scripture and in our own prayers. God with each covenant the has made whether the one with Adam and Eve, through Abraham, to the promises made to the children of Abraham ,through Moses on Sinai - Deuteronomy and in Jesus Christ each one made God the creator, the Alpha and Omega a debtor to his creation !!  How doe

And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? 6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of Go

Stay Peculiar

Stay peculiar  1 Peter 2:7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient,“The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone,”8 and “A stone of stumbling And a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Acts 5:28 “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.”29 Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!    Martin Luther stood before the Diet of Worms, a church tribunal, and was given a choice to recant  his criticism of the church to escape punishment. Journey into Living God's Way

Journey into Living God's Way - a lesson  There four critical spiritual facts  Romans 1:18-32 18   For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19   Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed  it  unto them. 20   For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made,  even  his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21   Because that, when they knew God, they glorified  him  not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22   Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23   And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24   Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of

Christmas ?

Christmas?   Christmas, Easter the Sabbath day bring disputes over whether they are PAGAN or is it the right day. So earlier in the last few weeks I overheard a conversation between a sister in Christ when she tried to witness to a person. As she was witnessing he asked her "but what about the Sabbath when do you worship" and she admitted on Sunday. The person then said "what about Christmas do you celebrate" and she said "yes" and he immediately began to talk about the fact that sunday was not the sabbath and Christmas is pagan day and we do not know when Jesus was actually born. The message of the Gospel could have been sidetracked as she tried to defend celebrating Christmas and Sundays. We are going to speak about her response later.    2 Timothy 2:14 says "Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to
