R.C Sproul : QUOTE

R.C Sproul : Quote from  “ what is the Gospel” sermon    We not saved by profession of faith BUT possession of faith.  Not everyone who says Lord, Lord will be saved ! Receive Jesus as savior and Lord by Faith alone and through Grace and not by your works .   Matthew 7:21  Not everyone who says to Me,  ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.   NKJV  Ephesians 2: 8.  For by grace you have been  saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;  it is  the gift of God, 9.    not of works,  lest anyone should boast.  NKJV

Responsibility of Christians for the spiritual church family

The role of the Holy Spirit in prayer

A short note on the role of the Holy Spirit in prayer from a group bible study.   First thing we MUST know is that The HOLY SPIRIT is a person not just a force or a spirt energy like the FORCE from Star Wars.  John 16: 13 However, when He , the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. -New King James Version He is a part of the TRINITY - all three were present at the baptism of Jesus Matthew 3:13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him. 14 John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now; for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. 16 And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit ...

Bible reading tip

Bible reading tip     Bible reading tip from the Sunday school teachers and Ministers of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. When you read therefore in scripture; you need to read what proceeds the verse. The reason is because that word means the information prior to it is very important. The prior information helps define or explain what follows the word. They say that:  "We want to know what the therefore is there for "!   2 Timothy 2:15 : Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. -King James Version https://www.facebook.com/gethsemane.baptistchurchbx

Scripture References and links for 3 sermonettes

Scripture References and links for 3  sermonettes 1. Sermon:  Our Great Shepard  To show the Jewish people that he was different from the religious leaders  Jesus used the Shepard as an example to show that he was the only one sent by God to save the Nation of Israel but the whole world.  Three examples that prove  He is the Great Shepard: 1. Jesus knows you personally and will call his sheep to follow him (John 10:27-29) He will call you by you name (v.1-6)  2. He wants you to live abundantly (v.7-10)  Unlike Satan who wants to steal Jesus offers a new life that will be abundant not only in this life, but in the life to come. (John 14:1-6)  3. He is willing to give his life for you (v.11-18) Jesus gave his life so that many sheep will come into his flock where they will be loved and cared for.
